D & C? Experiences? My Brain On Drugs TTC since Sep 2013; 33 kids; Elephant Butte, New Mexico 15758 posts

I am wondering if anyone had an experience of adhesions or other complications occurring after a D & C. Sometimes drugs used to artificially dilate the cervix cause future cervical incompetence. Did anyone's doctor force them to "wait it out" (ie denied you a treatment) and you found this particularly horrible emotionally? I'm writing an article about miscarriage and how it is managed medically. If you want to be quoted in the article, leave your first name in your comment.

I personally experienced a natural physiological m/c, but only because I didn't know the baby was gone. Although I think I wouldn't have wanted drugs.

I was horrified at how I was treated at the hospital during this horrible time. Yes I kind of knew I was miscarrying, but still. Some ER doctor just came in after the u/s and said, "There's nothing there" and walked out.

Interested in anyone's thoughts or comments.

A very high number of women do get adhesions, or scarring, on the cervix and in the uterus from a D&C. It could be that doctors don't always check for healing, or tell you about it, but the truth is that it can cause some serious complications later. I am thinking doctors generally don't inform about those risks.

But you all signed something at the time you got the procedure done?
