Hi there. So I went in for my 6 week check up on Monday and was told my doctor was out on a delivery, and asked if I would be fine with seeing a nurse practioner. Which of course I was. 5 mins later the nurse comes back out and told me that there was no nurse practioners available. She quickly went over a few things and told me I was fine and she trusted me to just call if anything came up. I had no stitches/tearing and no problems. Anyways I got put on the birth control patch which I started on Tuesday. Well Wednesday night my hubby and I dtd unprotected. I thought it was fine because I was on bc. Talking to my sister today she told me that its not effective right away??? Now I am really freaking out. I have not gotten my first period yet so hoping that is good. However I have been having some ovulation type discharge last week or so.

Of course you can! You can get pregnant anytime you have sex.. you’ve got to use a back up plan for 1-2 (can’t remember what week it is) weeks AFTER starting birth control.. why didn’t the nurse tell you that..? Unknown
