Night terror? marmarissa 2 kids; 2 angel babies; Ottawa, ON, Canada 8254 posts

My youngest daughter is about 1.5 and for the past 6 months I've been able to put her in her bed & have her fall asleep with no problems.  UP UNTIL LAST NIGHT! She randomly woke up screaming at midnight and every time I went to put her back in bed, she would begin screaming bloody murder all over again.  She was up for over 4 hours last night because I could not get her back to go back to sleep. Fast forward to nap time today- she screamed as soon as I placed her in her bed and I ended up having to cuddle her to sleep.  Now it's 10 PM, she is usually in bed by 8 and she's screaming.  She has never had an issue going to sleep in her room and nothing has changed in there.

Does this sound like a night terror?

(Sorry this is all over the place, I have no idea what to do!!!!)

That’s what it sounds like. I would try getting her to sleep somewhere outside of the bedroom and bringing her to bed with you after she’s been asleep for awhile.

Yea, poor thing. A had night terrors really crazy too and it was just horrible. It will pass, just find ways to make it easier for her. We would just sit there with A because if we touched her, she'd freak more and there was literally nothing we could do once it started. It ended just as randomly as it started, I don't even remember how long we dealt with it. I think P is going through similar things but not to that extreme. He keeps waking up at night talking or crying/screaming...about things though. He woke up hitting me calling me a dragon and crying not long ago. Idk, I just hope it doesn't get like A cause that was insane and it sounds like you're in a similar situation. I agree, maybe get her to fall asleep outside of the room and move her or something that will feel more comfortable for her now.
