Allergies since birth? Supermommy08 1 child; 2 angel babies; United States 606 posts

Since my daughter passed in April and I went through labor and delivery, I find it very strange that I've had the worst allergies of my life. I brought this up to my obgyn at my 6 week check up and told her I felt it was weird cause before the delivery, I never had allergies like this. Each night I lay down and I can't breathe I'm so stuffed up and my nose just runs and runs, it sometimes keeps me awake at night. I sneeze non stop. I get itchy skin. Etc. I take Claritin and it helps but once I stop taking the pills for a few days, the symptoms return. The doctor didn't think it was related but I'm still thinking its something. I mean I lost the baby without explanation and I feel like this is just all very strange that I feel like this after the delivery. Maybe I'm just looking for at reason but I feel like its not right. I'm planning to tell my general doc and my new obgyn when I meet with her but doesn't that seem strange?

It's really not that strange if you think about the time of year.  You gave birth during allergy season.  This year the pollen count has been astoundingly high, I've spoken to dozens of people who never had allergy symptoms before this year, so now have to take something for them daily.  I'm also one of those people.  I've always had allergies but never needed daily meds til this year.  Started in April/may.  Last week I thought surely I'd be able to stop taking the meds, so I stopped for a few days and she enough my symptoms came back with a vengeance

Very true. Now that you mention it, I have had people tell me the same about their allergies. Looks like i'll be picking up more Claritin today.

I think this allergy season is just much worse than normal. My husband never has allergies and has/had them... I always have them, but they have been so much worse this season

I think allergies are bad this year. Also after you have a baby I've noticed your body becomes more sensitive to things. That's what happened to me.
