My 8 week old is really wheezy and has a cough. He doesn't seem too bothered by it. Sometimes he gets a little choked up when coughing. I'm wondering what I can do for him? My daughter is getting over bronchitis. I don't know if I should make him an appointment or not. Advice??

That young,  I'd give his ped a call ASAP.

Our doctors office is closed now. I can call first thing in the morning. Do you think it warrants a trip to the ER? He's not having trouble breathing or anything. Just wheezy and coughing. He gets choked up for a second occasionally then is fine. It's not every time he coughs. He's not running fevers or having any other symptoms. But I of course worry too much about everything.

Could be bronchiolitis. I'd definitely give his pedi a call.

It depends...is he actually wheezing or is he congested and it's making it sound that way? Wheezing is a completley different sound and can be heard in the lungs and is usually accompanied by breething trouble(working harder).  A stethoscope(cheap one works too) is a good tool to have around to determine where it's coming from. I had to go get one to be able to tell the difference with ds2 because he is always so congested so it's hard to tell with him.

Definite wheezing. He was having mild retractions. I took him to ER just to be safe. He has bronchiolotis.

My dd2 got that when she was a month old. And was diagnosed with laryngomalaysia. She was hospitalized for a week. One of the scariest times of my life. Prayers your little guy starts feeling better soon!!

Hopefully he is doing better! We deal with asthma in this house, usually one or the other is doing breathing treatments at some point. Ds2 gets upper respitory infections easily, currently fighting one with a ear infection. The albuterol wires him up though lol.
