Quoting Oh Why Not:
I don't think you'll be treated as high risk just because of some cramping in early pregnancy. Was there bleeding too or just cramping? I always had bad cramps early on, sounds pretty normal so I'm surprised they put you on bed rest for that.

Ok thanks I hope not. Just the cramping and I was surprised too

It's because she went to an ER. Most will diagnose any early pregnancy as a threatened miscarriage and put them on bedrest or pelvic rest until they follow up.

But you're right... cramping is normal and expected! Rarely emergent when a symptom alone.

Can I be frank? Bed rest is totally useless. It's been proven over and over again to only add more stress. It's especially useless when you're like, 5 weeks pregnant lol. Unless you have a giant SCH, you're fine to go about your normal life. Chances are your hcg is low because you're early and the ER sucks at understanding how that shit works!

Thank you and I am glad to hear of a sucess story. I am pretty sure of my LMP but i wasn't keeping track of when i ovulated. I tested really early, like 4 days before my period.

Ok. Yes try not to worry. Your situation sounds identical to mine. I knew the exact day of LMP and I have a reg cycle of 28 days. I went to dr at 4 weeks and couldn't see anything. At the 7week ultrasound there were baby with Heartbeat.

Also if it makes you feel better I know down the hour when I ovulated and at 4.5 weeks at the ER they saw MAYBE one questionable gestational sac. 3 weeks later their were 3 babies, so yeah! No worries

Exclamation Yup. That early, it does nothing. ER docs tend to have a difficult time understanding how pregnancy actually works. Lol

It's not that ER docs don't know, it's that it's not their speciality and it's rarely an emergency. It's ER abuse to go in for regular OB concerns when there's literally nothing they can do. Just takes time a way from people who really need to be there.

Like going to your OB with a cardiac arrest and expecting them to put you on a ventilator and save your life.

Thank you all for your opinions and advice. I am sure everything is prob ok and your stories are helpful. I did talk to my OBGYN and they are going to check my levels again and go from there, for now my doc wants me on pelvic rest until then.
