I pronounce Alaina and Elena differently because of the E sound vs. the A sound so I am with you in that category, OP
I grew up with an Elaine and an Alaina. so in my eyes Elaina and Alaina are two separate names.
I suppose it all depends on how you want it to be pronounced.
the Y seems kind of trendy. Alana sounds more like a-lawn-a, where Alaina gives you more of the "laney" sound.
if you're going for Laney as a nn, what about Delaney, Melanie, or Madeleine?
I've never heard of this "a-lawn-a" name that everyone mentions. Is it "Alanna"? Like... "a-lonn-a"? Why does everyone say it like lawn??? Have I been saying it wrong for life?
This is so perplexing to me.
Quoting Oh Why Not:
Im not big on the E spelling, i Probably wouldn't use Ellie or Elle anyways. I'd rather her nick name be lainy. Isn't the E spelling pronounced a little different too? Like el-laynuh as opposed to Uh-laynuh with an A? I thought they were 2 different names lol
IRL.. I know of two Elenas and one Alana, I've always says them the same and never been corrected.. Hopefully they're not like DIS BISH DOESN'T KNOW MY NAME!
