Breast pump talk... SomeMommy 5 kids; 1 angel baby; Chicago, IL, United States 74008 posts

This may be a post and run....just FYI.

I have a few options thanks to insurance. I've kind of set my eyes on the Spectra S2 but I've seen so much talk about pumps lately, I thought I'd ask for myself.
What pump do you have, have you used, whatever? I could also get the Medela but I wasn't sold on it. I'll list my options and give me your opinions!

Medela Pump in style
Ameda Purely yours
Ameda Purely yours ultra double
Freemie Freedom hands free pump
Hygeia Enjoye Breast Pump
Lansinoh Signature Pro® Double Electric
Lansinoh Smartpump™ Double Electric
Nature's Bond Pure Breast Pump
Spectra S2 Hospital Strength Breast Pump
Tomy Quiet Expressions Plus™ Double Breast Pump

I've read a lot of reviews and it's just overwhelming. I didn't get a choice with the twins, they just gave me a hospital strength pump and it was amazing which is why I was leaning towards the Spectra. What pump would you get?

I have the spectra s2 but haven't used it. With my first I borrowed my sisters medela pump in style and I liked it a lot, no conplaints at all, but it's the only one I've ever used so I have nothing to compare it too.  I do know it made it through moderate-to-heavy use with my sister through two babies and light-to-moderate usage with me and it held up pretty well.
And an observation I have about the spectra is that it doesn't come with a convenient case like the medela has.

Spectra. It's not a choice. It's the best. Just get it, I promise.

The medela works just fine for me, but I would have gotten the spectra if my insurance covered it.

I have the Medela pump in style and love it. Insurance gave me an ameda and I hated it.

I have the medela pump in style. I love it! I use it a lot as I currently have an oversupply and no issues so far. I went with the medela just because target carries spare parts and runs great sales on them.

I've exclusively pumped with both kids, using Medela, IDK what it's called but it's this one:70ffa2f376fdb5df1838705e02dcaa94.jpg

Insurance let me get another one for DS2, but the one from DS1 still operates and I use it as my backup for if we go visit family or something.

I've also used the Medela Symphony? I think it's called.... they offered it for use in the NICU and it was awesome also. I like the Medela brand and the parts are easy to find and not all that expensive to buy multiple parts.

I used a pisa with ds1 and struggled with supply...used a spectra s2 with ds2 and loved it. I managed to pump 6 extra gallons to store. I used adapters to be able to use my Medela parts with the spectra.

I got the medela pump in style through in insurance. worked great but tore my nipples up. I ended up winning a spectra s1 off an Instagram contest and i absolutely love it. Ask insurance if you have the option to upgrade... if you do, get the s1. Having a rechargeable battery has been amazing. I've exclusively pumped for 13 months now... i probably would've stopped a long time ago if it wasn't for the spectra.
