Have any of your LOs had the procedure where they insert tubes into their ears for ear infection/ache relief?
DS gets a lot of them, but they're not always severe. I think he's had 2-3 since December but a lot of the time, he's not like screaming in pain and crying. Most of the time he just says it hurts a little but still wants to go to school and acts normally but will randomly tilt or hold his ear.
His pedi knows about all of the occurrences but has never mentioned the procedure and I don't want to suggest it, if maybe it's not necessary cause I'm not a doctor, Idk. Lol.
if if your LO had it done, how often did they have ear issues before your pedi suggested it? Has it helped?
My kids haven't had problems but I had them when I was a kid. My ear problems started when I was an infant and my doctor didn't refer me to an ENT specialist til I was 3... Mom said I had 3 or 4 ear infections a year
My son had them. They didn't reffer to ENT until he had 6 occurances. They work well for most children. Unfortunately my son was part of the 2% whose body rejects the tubes as a foreign invader.
My oldest had them put in twice. She had to have 6 ear infections in a year to have them put in. The first set was put in when she was 2.5 and her 2nd set was done at age 5 where she also had her tonsils and adenoids removed. She hasn't had any issues really since then.
My son had tubes put in as a baby (8 months) he is 2 1/2 now. According to his ENT normally if a child has 4 or more middle ear infections with in a year tubes are recommended because ear infections can move to the brain and really be dangerous. His surgery was done 30 mins from start to finish. My son had a lot of ear infections back to back so it effected his hearing so he takes speech now . He has not had a ear infection since though.
