My one year old son has very bad separation anxiety. I can't even go into the kitchen without him being in the other room crying his eyes out because I left. I can't go anywhere without him because when I do he freaks out the whole time. Is this normal? My daughter used to have it when she was his age too and she was pretty bad but I don't remember her being this bad.

My 2.5 yr old is like this. She yells and screams for mommy every night when i leave her in the living room with daddy to put her brother to bed until daddy gets her a snack then she's ok for a bit but if its too long before i get back she starts yelling for me again. She gets scared if i go in the bathroom without her knowing where i went.

It's normal. They don't understand object permanence yet, so they don't know that you'll come back.

My 18 month old is the same way! I can't walk into another room with out her freaking out, and going to the bathroom alone is out of the question. I have to shower with an audience every time or she sits outside of the bathroom door and just screams until I'm done. I don't remember my son ever being this bad.

DS1 was like that from the time he was super little, he always needed to see me. Then he'd crawl after me. Then he'd follow me around the house.... he'd sit on my foot while I peed, hold my leg if I was doing dishes. He still is pretty much on top of me and he's almost three.
