This is my weekend with my daughter. She was invited to her stepbrother's birthday party on Saturday. She is going. My question is would you buy a gift? Or since she will be with her dad and his family, no?

If she is with her dad and its his family - no. But reach out to BD just to confirm he will be providing the gift

No, he/they should be providing the gift.

I didn't read any of the other comments before commenting... So.... If this is double asked I suck lol

But will you be going? If you were going I would say yes get a gift but if not and she is just with them... ehh not so much.

I never go to a gathering empty handed let alone a party, but that's just me.

I won't be going but I will be dropping her off at the party and picking her up. So similar to if she was invited to a friend's party because it is just 2 hours.

It is her dad's wife's son (stepbrother) and BD and his wife are the ones throwing the party (stepbrother's real dad isn't in the picture AT ALL).

Thanks ladies! I was unsure what the etiquette would be here since it is technically my weekend with her but it is also her stepbrother and she would be with her family.

Let me say this..
If it was our weekend with my bonus daughter and she was say invited to her cousins party but on her moms side and I was just dropping her off but her mom and step dad and family would be there I would probably not buy a gift because she would be with family, like her immediate family.

I think in this situation that it is different than a friend ..etc
