My last baby which was my 3rd came home after 13 days...he was born at 34 weeks and had trouble with breathing which caused heart rate drops...it was very stressful but my first (38w) and second
(36 w)came home with me.

My daughter just been born at 34 weeks and has an infection it is going down with antibiotics but I can't help but feel this is such a set back she doesn't need help with her breathing but I just feel that she won't be home for ages

My preemie was born at 27 weeks and came home after 9 weeks. Generally, they tell you to expect them to stay in the NICU until their due date, so for your daughter, that would mean a 6-week stay. It probably won't be that long, but as you've seen, complications can arise, which add to NICU-stay time. I hope she recovers quickly from her infection and can come home soon. I know it doesn't seem like it now, but soon the NICU will be a distant memory.

With my first he was term and able to leave after 2 days, but I had pre-eclampsia and had to stay 5 days. They let him stay with me.

My second was born at 34 weeks and stayed 30 days in the nicu. He actually came home the day I was scheduled to have a c-section lol. They don't me to expect preemies to stay until their due date,so that was fairly accurate.

My oldest was 6 weeks early, 2lbs 15oz at birth -- she didn't need any assistance after birth other than being in the incubator to keep her body temperature up. She was sent home from the NICU at 16 days old. She was 3lbs 6oz when we brought her home <3

Interesting,  they made my friends preemie stay until she fit the weight requirements of the smallest carseat weight limit which was/is from what I've found 4 lbs. I researched like crazy to find one that went that low.

Op my DS was term at 39+5 but due to blood sugar issues he spent 7 days in NICU trying to regulate. It was hard even for a short time to be away, I spent days there my husband slept there at night. But he was where he needed to be.
