Hi there... To start off.. My story: I've been with my boyfriend for over 3 years.. And a couple years ago I accidentally got pregnant, though it ended in a miscarriage. We stayed together, I'm a senior in hs this year and have a month before I graduate. We have an apartment together .. After the miscarriage I got on BC to make sure this wouldn't happen again...
Now its like 2 years later. My periods are always normal and on time. I never miss a pill. But I missed my period, and thought it was weird but just waited to see if perhaps I would start by the end of the white pills. I didn't. I took a test a week later and I got a faint line... Didn't believe it so took another . . And I am freaking out.
I don't know how this could have happened. I NEVER miss a pill.. I don't do any drugs or drink so it couldn't have cancelled out. Im not on any type of medication. I don't know what to do. I need opinions, support, someone to talk to...
How could this have happened? I didn't have any shots, the only other thing I was taking was stuff for strep earlier this month but the doctor didn't say anything about it messing up anything. So I don't know what it could have been.
Please don't be rude.. I just need anyone's advice..

Birth control isn't 100% effective no matter how well you take it. If your having sex you can get pregnant.

Birth control fails sometimes. Its not 100% nothing except not having sex is. Sit down and talk to your boyfriend. Figure out what option is best for you and I wish you all the best of luck in whatever you decide.

Antibiotics can cancel out birth control your dr should have told you. Also birthcontrol is not 100 percent. I am sorry you are going through this vut you need to talk to your bf and go over your options.

:!:
That's why if you're really serious about not having a baby you should still use a back up method of birth control (like a condom) as well as taking your pill.

The antibiotics you took for strep hindered your bc. You need to sit down with your boyfriend and talk about what to do next. BG is always here, these ladies can be great advice and support :)

I just figured I wasn't going to get pregnant through BC considering all the infertility issues people may have and run in my family. . I really didn't see this happening. And even if its 100 how is that 1% ??? I'm just dumbfounded i just want to cry.. I couldn't have an abortion my family is christian .. Adoption would be so heart breaking and I give kudos to those who were able to go through that light heartening process but I just can't see me being strong enough to do that.
I had a miscarriage before at 7 weeks, it could just happen again... Its not a positive way to look at it but I just don't know what to do .. Or how to tell my family. . should I wait to see if I miscarry before I tell them??? Or when ? Lost. I am so lost

The doctor never said it would.. Are you sure it does that? It was some type of penecillin I think. I don't see my family (who are strict) even believing this

Penecillin will definitely mess with your birth control.

Penicillin V can make birth control pills less effective, which may result in pregnancy. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you use birth control pills.

There are many antibiotics that can render BC ineffective, and Penicillin is a big one.

My doctor NEVER said my antibiotics for my sinus infection would mess with BC. But they do.

Good luck. PM me if you need advice or anything. I had my daughter at 18, she's now 7 months and even though it's super hard everyday and some days I don't know how I can do it, she's the best thing ever.
