My 3 year old's convo with unborn "sister" P Pickle Pants 98 kids; California 20532 posts

He climbs on my lap (I was laying), puts his face on my belly, listens to my belly and tells me: "Mama! I hear baby growing! Its getting bigger! Her getting BIG!"

I laugh and ask him what else is happening and he blows lots of raspberries on my belly and poking it and gets distracted. Then he sits up a little and looks very seriously at my belly and says "Baby! You have to eat all your spetchables and fruits and berries so you can grow big! Eat LOTS of spetchables. They're yummy. Make you BIG! I was borned a big baby. I'm a big boy!"

Already looking out for "her"

(he still swears its a sister, although he's decided she doesn't HAVE to be named Agra after the porcupine at the SD Zoo (his favorite animal there). He even says she can be Ainsley, but refuses to believe she could possibly be a boy---to the point that if I talk about boy names he tells me baby is a HER.)

My 6 yr old would talk to her baby sisters (it was just 1 boy). She even argued with the dr when she was told that there's only 1 brother

Hopefully he's right about the baby being a her, then! A lot of people say that kids are good at guessing and my son was. He always said brother.

I don't know whether its because ALL of his little guy friends have baby sisters (and he has only female cousins).

Or if he associates having a brother with HIS brother who died and can't deal with that.

I'm not reading too much into it. Just enjoying my peeks into his little world :D

We just want a live baby. I have zero preference for gender. At all.

I can't even comprehend how someone would have a preference anymore. Literally the only thing that matters to me is actually getting to bring one home. The rest? Just details!

Even after only going through a miscarriage, I stopped caring about how difficult the pregnancy would be or anything about the baby except them being healthy. So I can imagine it matters even less to you. I wasn't meaning it like, "Well you have a boy, so obviously a girl is what you should be hoping for," if that's how you took it, just that your LO is looking for a sister.

He'll be fine with either too. Although, I agree that a sister would be easier for him to wrap his head around at first. But he remembers his brother vividly enough (he was there when he was born) to know that he was an individual person and that another brother won't be the SAME brother. I think his issue with having a new brother is that he doesn't want anyone to take HIS brother's place---like he's almost jealous of losing his Brother (Deagan) to a new brother almost.

He's a very strong and very smart and adaptable boy, I'm sure he'll adjust great as we help him walk this path we're forced to go down. I wish I could make it easy for him, but all of it is hard for him. He's SO worried that something will happen to this baby. He's VERY protective of my belly. He won't even let me put my laptop on my belly or lay on my belly!

That's so sweet. Made me smile. My little sister told me, 'It's nice that were finally going to be parents. And I'm glad were having a girl, I don't know if I could handle a boy.' She's such a total cheese ball!

Awe! How precious :P I can't wait to find out if he is right!

The other day, our baby kitten died. She got bite by a black widow spider :( Anyway. We were talking about her at the dinner table and the boys were asking questions about Heaven and so on. I made the comment that our kitten would go to Heaven with our other cat that passed away 2 years ago and with Aunt Audrey (my little sister). Evan said "No, mommy. She won't be there. Audrey is going to be the baby in your belly." He doesn't even know that I am pregnant yet. Lol.

Little kids say the cutest things!
