Is Robitussin DM safe while breastfeeding? SpidermansMommy 4 kids; 1 angel baby; Ohio 6866 posts

Actually, from everything I have read, it IS safe....I am more concerned about it drying up my milk supply. I have a HORRIBLE cough, however, to the point where it's very hard to breathe, and I need some relief. Will taking it affect my supply? And if it does, what can I do to limit its effect? TIA for any and all answers...

is the DM for decongestant? Because my LC says anything with decongestant in it can dry up your milk.

Yes, I believe it is. I think it's a decongestant and an expectorant. I am just sooooo miserable right now and I need some relief. I guess I will just be sure to drink extra fluids and I will pump every two hours (I am exclusively pumping) just to maintain my supply.

Yeah or maybe call your LC and see what medicine she can suggest for the breathing. Good luck

My midwife told me never to take anything that clears mucus because the medicines dry up all breast milk also. They are actually prescribed when a women needs to stop lactatining. I would check with an lc before I took anything.
