That's right, I dropped some glass and said "Oh shit!" and now my 2 year old says it all the time. I tried ignoring her because I figured if she didn't get a reaction, she'd stop, but she'll just come out of no where and be like "aw shit aw shit aw shit!" like playing with her toys, or just talking to herself...in her carseat...wherever really. Then I tried telling her "No ma'am...don't say that" and she just giggles. I've made it a point to not make a big deal/reaction because I know it'll egg it on, but any ideas how to stop it?!
I would just continue to ignore it. She will give up eventually.
If you fine one, let me know.
We've been trying the ignoring thing, too. not working. Thought it was for a while, but then the words surfaced again.
Tell her that it is a naughty word and kids shouldn't say it. You made a mistake and said the naughty word too. Then just ignore her if she says it again.
You just have to keep reinforcing that it's a bad word! LOL..we went through that with the whole SHUT UP thing, and he kept calling my JESSEKA when he would get mad lol..I ignore it and when it gets ridiculous, I get onto him.
My LO has a potty mouth. I ignore it, but that doesn't help.
It also doesn't help that DH encourages some things (like he taught her to say apple douche, rather than apple juice).
My son says "oh f**k"
I haven't found a solution.
every time my so is driving and someone does something boneheaded and he b***hes about it he always uses the word "f**k" and then our almost 2 yr old daughter will start saying it. I've had okay luck with not commenting on her saying it and distracting her and getting her to say other words she knows. Helps that she doesn't ride with Daddy too much.
My nephew used to sit in the back of my moms car cover his mouth and say "Bull shit" over and over and over again we tried ignoring it, we tried telling him it was a bad word and he shouldn't say it don't remember how he heard it in the first place even but he finally stopped saying it I don't remember what made him stop either. My son has heard probably every bad word in the book between hubby, me slipping up and saying something or my mom's fiance slipping up while he is at their house and saying something and he has yet to repeat anything he's heard *crosses fingers* Hopefully he wont anytime soon either
