Teenage Pregnancy

| | |

I found out I was pregnant with my daughter when I was 17 & I gave birth a month before I turned 18. Now I know what a lot of people think when the hear of teen pregnancies and teen parents. I like to think that my SO & I break that cycle. When we first found out of course we had the usual emotions that most expectant parents get, especially the excitement, but for us we had the worry of being young parents too. My pregnancy was by far straight forward. I had Hyperemesis gravidarum and was hospitalized on numerous occasions & also I was severely anemic too and had to get an iron infusion every week from 12 weeks until I gave birth at 20 weeks. While a lot of guys would have ran a mile, my SO was there every step of the way which I appreciate more than he will ever know. After such a terrible pregnancy though I had a great straight forward natural birth and we welcomed our daughter into the world on the 14th October 2007. After she was born we tried our hardest to do things on our own especially financially, which we managed most of the time. My SO got a job and we lived with his parents to save a little money until we could afford a place of our own. We have now been together 7 years and have been living in our own house together for 5 years and found out back in January we are expecting baby number 2.

I like to think that we don't fit the usual image put out there of teenage parents. We are still together, we never expected help from anyone, we never left our daughter to go out with friends...etc. Just shows that not all teen parents are the same.

I am a teen mother as well, my oldest is 5. I had her when I was 16 years old and when she was born 3 months later I turned 17. This blog is wonderful, I love seeing other Teen Moms share their success stories. Just another story to show the stereotypical world Teen Mothers can beat the odds!
