IS there a list of states that do this?!
not sure, I thought they all did that.
So far this is all I could find:
Mainly its the mothers that are tested....
If a mother shows up positive for something, THEN they test the meconium on the infant to see if the mother has been using drugs while the baby was in utero.
I think it should be EVERY state.
Im glad they do in Mass.
My SO's cousin had her baby back in October. She denied ever doing ANY type of drug while she was pregnant. Her daughter was born a crack baby and addicted. It too almost a month in the hospital, of her being in the NICU, for the baby to get better.
She had no signs of being addicted when she was born, so if they didnt do the testing, the Drs would have never known.
BTW she's doing much better now, being taken care of by her grandmother.
nope its not. i dont think it even has to do with the state...i just know my hospital doesnt because i know a bunch of girls who smoked pot and never got tested.
they do test if they think they should though, like if there are any reasons

Im trying to tell my friend she will get involved with CPS for weed but she doesn't believe me!
I personally think every baby should be tested....and mother....and father. I just don't agree with drug use and children
If you aren't adult enough to quit doing drugs once you get pregnant or have a child, then you aren't mature enough to keep it. sorry. just how i feel.
