My doctor doesn't seem to think I'll make it to my due date. But then again, he could be completely wrong and I could go OVER my due date.. which is what I think is going to happen. :P butI was just curious, what's to be expected with a baby born at 37-38 weeks? Anytime in the NICU or anything like that?
My friend Debbie had her baby via c-section at 37 weeks. He was perfect.
My son was born at exactly 38 weeks. He had a little trouble with his body temperature, but was never in the NICU. He never even left my side.
Skye was born at 37 weeks 3 days. She weighes 5lbs 15ozs and is perfectly healthy! No time in the NICU! Thank goodness cause I spent two months in the NICU with Lexi who was born at 29 weeks!! My friend had her baby at 37 weeks and he weighed 8lbs 7ozs!!
Quoting *Lexi and Sky's mama*:
My daughter was born at 37 weeks exactly. She is a perfectly happy 15 month old now. She fortunatly did not have to spend any time in the NICU, we just had to have her in the pedi about once a week for weight checks for a few months, we had to make sure she was gaining right.
I think a baby is considered full term at 37 weeks so I think your baby should be fine
My daughter was born at 38 weeks, but 37 weeks gestation. She had trouble maintaining her body temp also her breathing was low. She spent 14 days in the PICU she was discharged at 3 days old and readmitted back at 6days old.
She was 5lbs 4oz 18 in long.
My LO was born at 36wks at 6lb 2oz. She was perfect. No NICU.
My Daughter was born at 38 wks, And we went home 2 days later(we would have gone home 1 day earlier, but there was a nasty blizzard outside, so it wasnt safe) Adina was perfectly healthy when she was born.
it really depends on the particular baby. But most likely everything will be perfect, especially the longer you can hold off :) Kailee was born at 39 weeks and was perfect :)
37 weeks is considered full term. SO basically next to no complications should be expected at all. Im going to be induced at 37 wks. My doc said if he is born before 35wks (im 33) that I would have to have him at a hospital 2 hours away where there is an NICU.
I had my son RIGHT when I turned 37 completed weeks, like, the day of.
He was a bit on the small side (5lbs 15oz) but I think he was going to be small either way. Other than that, he was perfect :)
At 37 weeks you're considered full term :) USUALLY the baby is just fine.. I say usually because there's always that small percentage.
Soooo no worries Katie, im sure she'll be healthy if you have her tomorrow or sometime in July :D haha.
