Hi guys! I really need some advice. My daughter has been sick with a cold for the last week and a half, but now that she is getting better she still won't eat! She acts really hungry-I go to feed her, and she will take a bite maybe two, and then she starts spitting out what is in her mouth and throwing the rest on the ground. (She isn't trying to be funny, she just tries to get everything off her tray at that point.) If you have any ideas please share!
she wont eat anything? go to her dr... call him something
She will eat a few bites, but she used to eat quite a bit at meals. Even though she is a little underweight, she eats like CRAZY! Anyway, if I want her to eat more I have to spoon feed her yogurt, cottage cheese, or applesauce.
pedia sure....its like a meal replacement drink for kids. I would call and ask your pedi if she is old enough to have it. It tastes really good...and sometimes when kids, babies dont want to eat, they will drink.
both of my kids have done this and the dr says as long as they are drinking fluids (like pedalite) there is nothing to worry about and your kid will eat when she is ready. If she doesn't eat and you get really worried call ur dr
Thanks guys. I appreciate it. She won't eat, but she has been drinking a lot. She loves milk, so I might add instant breakfasts or pediasure or something!
It sounds to me like her throat may be hurting. I agree with McLeary that she probably should drink the Pedia Sure. Also make sure she is getting plenty of fluids, and maybe try some Pedia Lyte as well. She's not starving herself, she's just following her body's cues. Almost every child goes through little periods here and there when they just don't eat nearly as much as they used to. Their tummies, throats, or mouths might be hurting or they may just be a little out of sorts. It's not usually something to be alarmed about unless it continues for a very long time and they start losing weight. My daughter got to the point where we were making GI specialist appointments because she had lost 4 lbs and would literally only eat a bite of a burrito for the entire week.
Just keep fluids down her and she should be fine. But always call your doctor!
We were recommended Pediasure by Khym's Nutritionist, however once she found out that I drink Nestle Carnation Instant Breakfast (or is it actually called "Anytime" now, or that just the Advertising:?) she said to put him on that, it was far better than the Pediasure.
Yeah that is nice because it is a lot cheaper! She actually ate dinner tonight!! So, she must be feeling better! It's been a week though of hardly eating, so it was a relief! I was excited she ate 4 crackers with cream cheese at lunch, then she ate at dinner--so I was happy!
I'm glad your child is feeling better. I would do a lot of fluids. Also when you are sick jello, bananas, rice. I believe there are a few other things. Look up the BRAT diet. I think it is bananas, rice, apple sauce, and ??? Goodness I'm sorry can't think of the last one.
