I just had my top two wisdom teeth pulled and the two molars in front of them that had been broken...so 4 in total on the top.
I had it done yesterday and have only been taking motrin and the pain is pretty bareable, actually the left side doesn't hurt at all.
It has been about 24 hours since I had them removed and i am still drinking Boost and Ensure ( god, I am SO hungry). I am SOOO terrified of getting dry sockets....I am not smoking, drinking from straw, or even eating solid food. I have read up about it and seems like after day 5 you are in the clear...
Does anyone have advice to prevent dry sockets, or to those who had them, do you know what caused them?
I appreciate the help, ugh I can't wait until this is over!
Rinse your mouth as often as you can especially after you eat or drink something and if your a smoker dont smoke. You just have to keep your mouth as clean as possible. I had all 4 of my wisdon teeth pulled when I wasin highschooland it was NOT fun!!
I am about to have two of my back molars removed on Weds....and thats my biggest fear! I had my wisdom teeth done and didnt have any trouble and I remember the oral surgeon telling me not to smoke (I dont anyway) or suck through a straw.
He also said that dry socket usually shows up on the 3rd or 4th day.....so, after that, you should be good :)
eating solid food wont cause a dry socket.. they are caused by a suction in your mouth usually by smoking, drinking form a straw etc!!! just eat chew slowly and you should be fine to eat solid food.... i mean i wouldn't jump on the jaw breakers or anything lol but just use common sense and eat foods that aren't too hard.....
no straws! no s*****g...
i started rinsing my mouth gently with salt water (as my dentist reccomended) this morning (24hrs post op). But I have been doing it extremely gently because I read that excessive rinsing can cause you to lose a clot.
I am too afraid to eat solid food, plus since I had teeth on both sides removed its a little hard to chew.
sodypop...i read it is most common in wisdom teeth (especially bottom ones), so I'll bet you will be fine, especially since you had no problems then. but I know what you mean, I am afraid of getting one...i have heard HORROR stories about it.
Going to drink more boost :? I appreciate the advice.
