Hcg bloodwork today --Mommie C 3 kids; 1 angel baby; Fresno, California 211 posts

Today I went to my drs I got my appointment changed for today cause I started bleeding. At the drs they did a urine test and it came back negative but I still got to see the Dr,  she told me there's a chance that I was pregnant but very early cause I showed her my test that I took at home but she also said theres a chance of a false positive. I didn't ask her what she ment by that, I'm thinking that maybe the test I took at home are false, but anyways she sent me for bloodwork and I checked earlier online the results and it said my hcg level is 13.6, so idk if that means I'm pregnant or not cause I read on Google it has to be over 50 to be considered pregnant and here's the thing to I started bleeding today it's not as heavy but its pretty red sorry tmi and I am having cramps, so I'm guessing maybe I wasn't even pregnant. I go back to the drs in a week to talk to her. For now I'm pretty sad

It was probably a chemical since you had a few positives. False positives are pretty rare. Chemicals are actually pretty common, most women don't even know they have had one unless they test early. I've had a couple myself. I'm sorry!

13 is a pregnant result. So you are/were pregnant. I was told anything over 5 for someone my age is a pregnant result

Whether it's 50 or 5 depends on the analyzer and which brand of analyte they use. So you have to check the lab's reference range, but is typically 5.

To know if it's a chemical pregnancy or if you are still pregnant, you'll have to get another beta in a week to see what the levels are. But honestly, it's a waste of money since those blood tests can get pretty expensive and it doesn't really matter except just you know. Wait 2 weeks and test again with a hpt and go from there.

And earlier today I took another digital and it said not pregnant.  I'm still gona go Thursday to talk to the Dr and see what she says, cause I'm also wondering if I count this bleeding as a period or not. I'm really bummed now.
