Reintroducing BF again after 2 months? Team❤Pink 3 kids; 4 angel babies; Maryland 4720 posts

Long story short...

I bf dd3 for 18 months then had a complete mental breakdown & had to be hospitalized. I'm doing much better but i need to be on meds for the time being-most likely life long. I'm on Lamictal, Zoloft & Ativan. My doctor has said these meds can be used while bf but i havent discussed it with her ped yet. It makes me extremely nervous. I dont want her to have any side effects. I plan on discussing it with her ped on Friday at her well check. We both miss bf so much. She still tries to get to them. She wants to nurse & i want to nurse her. If her ped says its okay would you reintroduce bf to her after 2 months. My dh is dead set against it but i wasnt ready to stop, her either but like i said circumstances caused us to stop suddenly.

If you and your dd are still willing, then yes i would give it a try.

Eta: why doesnt your dh want you to try reintroducing?

Tell him to STFU and you nurse your baby. It's going to only help you if you can get started again.

I personally would not. I would think it would be super confusing to her at this point and now it’s time to concentrate on you. 18 months is phenomenal and you should be so proud of yourself!

However, it’s your call. You can contact Infant Risk to ask about your meds. They are usually much more helpful than pediatricians in this area.

I didn't even realize she had gone so long....OP, I completely second this too. Either way, it's your decision.

I must agree with your DH on this one. Two months is a long time and your supply has most likely diminished anyway.  Great job nursing for 18 months!!
