Diaper rash question Dee♡ 2 kids; 1 angel baby; .., IN, United States 5988 posts

DS2 has a horrible rash right now. He’s not normally prone to them, and this one is a stubborn one. I’ve been putting aquaphor on it, letting him air dry after frequent diaper changes, and it is just spreading. It’s slightly raised, red, and sort of rough feeling. It appeared over the weekend. Just since last night it’s tripled in size. It’s on his butt (obviously ShySuper Happy) and kind of wraps around his thighs where the diaper sits. We ARE using Parents Choice diaper brand for the first time (they were out of ALL luvs and I currently can’t afford Huggies/Pampers Sad)and it’s supposed to be hypo-allergenic/fragrance free. We make sure to always change him immediately after a BM, but over the weekend they were a bit softer/much stinkier/different color, so I think he may have had an upset belly. But they’ve since calmed down and are back to normal.

Does it sound like a reaction to the diapers? Or irritation from his BMs? Any tips? I’m going to try to get a pack of different diapers tomorrow. He doesn’t seem too bothered, but it looks horrible. Very Sad

I'd say allergy to the diapers or yeast infection. I would get different diapers asap.

Could be the diapers.
Try Butt Paste. It’s honestly the best for rashes.

Sounds like yeast to me. You'll need a prescription from the doctor of something like nystatin to clear up a yeast probably. DD1 had such a problem with it.

Exclamation Or you can get some OTC Monistat and put it on the rash.

Raised and rough, to me, sounds like it’s probably the diapers. I’d exchange them for something else! Walmart *should* take them back. I’d keep doing the Aquaphor and airing out.

You should know for sure when you stop using those diapers.

I sounds like it could be a yeast infection. My oldest would get them when she had runnier poo than normal. The dr always gave her a prescription.

Thanks everyone! I picked up a pack of his regular diapers and some monistat so we will see if it clears up soon. It was definitely bothering him today. Very Sad

Definitely the diapers! Sad
His bright red rash is barely pink today and not painful to him at all. I called to ask for a refund and they filed a complaint and are wanting to test the diapers because they’re supposed to be hypoallergenic.
