I am having to write and argumentative paper for my college ENG class. I am needing to write about if I think woman should or should not have to undergo an ultrasound and be require to watch and look at it while someone describes the image to them before undergoing an abortion.
Do you think woman should have to or should not?
I need your thoughts, comments, questions and concerns please. This will help me get a better stance on the paper and the way I want to write about it. Everyone is welcome to comment with why they think woman should have to or should not.

(If I have done my research right there is ultrasound laws for abortion in all states, although only 3 of those states require you to undergo an abortion and you are require to look at it while the ultrasound tech describes to you the image on the screen)

I do not think a woman should be required to look at the ultrasound before an abortion. Many times, the decision to get an abortion is difficult enough. I think seeing the ultrasound will just make the guilt worse.

Yes you should have to. If there is any chance that seeing a baby moving around in there will stop someone from killing the baby then yes. How can a mother say she doesnt want her child to live? I would hope that after seeing the ultrasound mothers would realize that that little life inside there is just as important as her own life and do anything to protect and save the baby

No, I dont think a woman should be forced to watch. When a woman has an abortion its usually because of her situation. Adding more pain and guilt to an already painful and traumatic experience is needless and cruel.

I don't believe a person should have to view an ultrasound before an abortion. Like some of the others said a lot of the people who have an abortion painstakingly came to that decision to make that choice. Most women who make that choice are doing so for a reason whether its that they aren't ready or the situation isn't ideal. Also condoms break and birth control fail so why punish someone who may have tried to prevent the situation.

No,  I don't think they should be required to look at it.  Deciding to get an abortion is hard enough as it is without the added guilt of seeing the fetus on the ultrasound.

Everyone who has commented so far thank you. You all help with the argument and counterargument for the essay.

Abstaining from sex is the only true prevention. Everyone old enough to have sex knows that there is still a small chance even with bc/condoms

I think she was pointing out that shes unaware that humans, like all other animals, are biologically programmed to have sex... Either that or shes trying to argue why having dumpster babies is more humane than abortion.
