Im pregnant with #5... My oldest is 5yo atm. Ive always been against getting my tubes tied. Idk why, i just dont like the idea. I dont want anymore kids in the near future... But im 25, so i know that that could change. Ive now gotten pregnant TWICE on bc. I cant do another kid anytime soon. Its not just that i dont want to, I CANT. so for the first time ever, im considering getting my tubes tied. It seems like the most logical thing to do... But it makes me very emotional to think about. Im also concerned that with as fertile as i am, with my luck... What if i get pregnant anyway? Then my risk for ectopic pregnancy goes up and that scares me... What would you do??

I would never tie my tubes even though we don't want anymore. We're young, and what if something horrible happened? I just can't deal with the permanent idea of it.

I was offered to have it done this time and I don't think I will. I know we should be done but I just don't think it's for me or us. I'll figure something else out. Besides, it's not like women haven't still gotten pregnant so why even go through with it if it's still possible for things to occur?

I won't ever get a tubal just for my own reasons. My friend suffered from post-tubal ligation syndrome and I'm a b***h enough without dealing with something like that... Angry

It's just such a personal decision though. I wish that Essure thing didn't turn out to be such a mess, that would have been a good option probably.

I got my tubes tied because I knew I didn't want anymore babies and could not have any more kids. I was a little hesitant at the last second but still got it done and so happy that I did. I'd probably be on my 5th or 6th kid by now which is NOT what I wanted. I'm done and I'm fine with being done. If I ever want another kid like 10 years from now or something, I'll look into invitro fertilization, I know it's super expensive but it's an option to possibly have another kid. I'll probably never want to start over again though but who knows.

ExclamationExclamation just think of this and the permanent idea.

I did however get my tubes tied and I just wish I didn't. Yes, I weighed the pros and cons. I had a couple MC and didn't want to risk those emotional possibilities. There were many other reasons, why I chose to but again.. even with all my reasons to do so, I'm still not over the idea of it being permanent. I don't know why it bothered me, as much as it did.

with you being so young, I wouldn't. You just never know down the line, or if you ended up with a lovely guy that you both wanted to build more of a family.

What about other forms of birth control? IUD? Do you use condoms?

I don't think I would ever do it.  I'm pretty in tune with my cycles and when I'm fertile, which is what I primarily rely on for pregnancy prevention.   When I'm truly done having kids and absolutley don't want any more I'll  look into long term birth control, such as an IUD.

Birth control is your partner's responsibility too. If you're not comfortable getting your tubes tied, don't do it. Nothing is 100% effective but condoms, used consistently, every time you're intimate, is highly effective.

(Condoms are pretty much the only option for us. I can't do hormonal birth control. It's worked for us for 3 years now)

I wish you luck finding an option that works for you. You're not due till November so you have some time to really weigh and consider all options. Congrats on your pregnancy! I have 5 kids too :)

What would I do in your situation, or? I'd get my tubes tied because for me, personally, 5 kids is enough to drive me crazy.  38

I'm the same age as you, I turn 26 in September. I personally would not do it for myself since I have up to 9 years by the book to have a healthy pregnancy, plus there's women in my family that end up having their last in their early to mid 40's so I'll probably be on of those women lol. My grandma had 13 kids so I love being in a big family but it's not meant for some. If you're for sure you don't want anymore kids get it done.

I considered a tubal when I was pregnant with DD. Even more so when I was hospitalized for preterm labor. Then I got scared at the thought of having the option of another taken away from me. I'm super glad I didn't go through with it, because I have decided down the road I would like another.

Im not sexually active at the moment, so I haven't needed nor thought about bc. I'm thinking maybe an IUD. Not sure though.

Im super sensitive to hormonal bc. The IUD scares me. Im completely comfortable with condoms, its getting my partner to use them -_- but being adament about it is important! Im sure if it was that or nothing he would suck it up.
