Surgery delay period? Consuela* United States 5029 posts

Has anyone ever had surgery delay their period?

I'm 3 days late, I had surgery the end of March. I've been recovering and not really up for it so DH and I have only had sex once since then. I took a pregnancy test last night just in case though and it was negative. I'm wondering if the surgery/recovery has messed with my cycle.

Anesthesia can do all kinds of things to your body. I personally wouldn't be surprised.

Yes, any stress on your body can throw your cycle off.

I had heel reconstruction on feb. 1st ( we were tracking ovulation so i wouldn't get pregnant ) I ended up ovulation on the 21st which was the day before AF was supposed to start. Needless to say... I'll be 10 weeks tomorrow.

Did you test when you missed AF? Did it come up negative at first?

Yes I did, I got my first positive 13 days later. I tested a few times that first week then stopped testing for like 8 days then it popped up on a digital.

Yes it definitely can. I had surgery aug 10th, period came 4 days early on Aug 13th, lasted 12 weird on and off days. Chart was all over the place. I swear I never ovulated and used protection. But here I am 36w pregnant. My Dr said my chart was all lies after surgery due to being put under it affects your hormones for a month or so after.
