If you work part time, do you like it?

I'm finally at the point where I need set hours to myself for the sake of my sanity. I love my boys, dearly... but need time apart to grow even fonder <3
what do you do? what are your hours? are they flexible? any tips/suggestions?
anything specific you mentioned during the interview?

I'm considering retail. But, catering is also a possibility.

I work weekends, Saturday and Sunday 5 PM to midnight. I also often pick up extra shifts for bank holidays, etc, when DH is off. I love it! I still get to spend the weekends with the family, but come half past 4, I smile and wave DH and the kids goodbye just before the witching hour begins lol. He gets to deal with bedtimes and I get to not.

And I don't have to pay for childcare, which is the main thing.

Working opposite him is what I'm going for. I'd be available M & W nights, and two weekends on one weekend off (F night - Sun).

I need a break, desperately.

I work Saturday and Sunday with the occasional Friday. When Dh is off.
I just do it for sanity sake. Coffee is my passion so I work in a coffee shop, I joke that I work to support my habit.
I suggest doing something you absolutely love doing if you are just working to escape reality for a few hours a week!  It makes it more fun. Work is my social life.
Good luck!

I used to work part-time when dd was a baby.  For me it was stressful and took away from our together time which I didn't like. ...now that they're older I've been considering it but DH works so much it would be hard to do.

I work 2 shifts a week at a restaurant. I work evenings so we don't have to do child care since my DH works mornings. I like it, it's just enough to get out of the house and make some extra money. I don't feel like I'm missing too much since it's only two shifts and I'm only gone for a couple hours before the kiddos go to bed.

Working in a restaurant is pretty flexible too. I've been there for a long time though, but I tell them when I want to work, whether or not I want closing shifts, and can easily request days off or get shifts covered if need be.

Are you sure that's a good idea? Doesn't he have a drinking problem/has hurt them while drunk? Not being a c**t, I would say it's a bad idea, what do I know though.

ExclamationThis is how I feel. No matter how much I needed a break I wouldn't leave them with SO. I wouldn't feel comfortable. Maybe if I got a different sitter but that costs money usually.

I think a job in your circumstances is what you need and really you know that, without posting it here Super Happy <3. You have the support you need, once you utilize it and I know you will.
