Bf told me that his friend was saying his wife giving birth was the most horrid smell ever... And hes convinced that this is why men pass out. Ive given birth 4 times and never once noticed any smell. Amniotic fluid doesnt smell... I guess if you shit, it might smell. But honestly, shit isnt the worst smell in the world XD. I remember some chick on here years ago mentioned something about it smelling bad when she gave birth. Anyone else experience that?

I had a horrible smell both times.  With dd1 is was sickeningly sweet and with dd2 it was sour smelling.  My hubby didn't notice though

I noticed a gross smell with my first but not my second. Maybe I was too in the moment to smell it the second time?

I didn't notice any smell either time. Pretty sure blood and mucus and other things contribute more to that than any smell could 38

I've never heard of a bad smell during birth before. I never noticed anything during my 3 and Dh has never mentioned anything.

I noticed a metallic smell both times with mine. I assumed it was from the blood. Didn't smell gross or anything though.

I also might add that just before I had my first my ex's cousin told him the birth would smell bad (he had 2 kids) so he told me this fun fact a few days before my induction.

I only noticed an odd smell when the baby was handed to me before her bath.  My youngest didn't smell. I didn't notice any smell in the room though.

It's funny because at the hospital I delivered at, they don't bathe the babies for the first 24 hours. Something to do with keeping their body temperature as warm as possible. They also do kangaroo care for 2 hours right after they are born. He was placed completely naked on my chest except for a hat and then had blankets put on him. I remember thinking "wow he smells so good." I thought it was odd since he hadn't been washed yet and was just toweled off.

I loved that they did that. The hospital I was at with my first didn't. It felt like a much better experience and I felt like the bonding started better

4 kids and I never noticed a smell. I like the way my babies smell right after birth. Is that weird?

Nope. I noticed no smell with my 2 vaginal births.
