My best friend and I have been friends for 13 years. My daughter birthday is this weekend and she planned on going. She recently had a baby last month and her mom plans on having her a surprise diaper party. I let her know my daughter bday is this weekend she tottally disregarded what I said and made her diaper party day of my daughter's party and around same time. Wwyd? Ugh part me wants spoil whole thing and tell my best friend.

My best friend of 13 years mom is the same way.  My daughters birthday is the day before my friends and every year I tell my friends mom when I'm having my daughters party so she can plan my friends party  ( I always plan early because I invite a lot. she always plans last minute) well then she gets upset because me and my family are busy and can't come. My poor friend is torn. Maybe invite your friend over to your personal family birthday dinner so she doesn't have to completely miss out,  plus gets more one on one attention for your daughter and your friend (my daughters have a special bond with my best friend definitely like aunt/neice's).  She can still pop in for the actual party if she can. But I would be supportive of her having the diaper party, and not make a huge deal out of it.  Mom's like that suck, especially when your pregnant,  she is probably going to be stressed about your reaction.  Just let her know you understand her mom is nuts and that its OK. And your sorry you couldn't have been more involved in the diaper party.
