Worse experience with a babysitter. CodingMommyAsh Due March 21 (girl); 2 kids; 1 angel baby; Japan 355 posts

Yesterday, I had the worst experience with a sitter I thought I could trust. Still furious and don't know what to do.

I hired a new sitter for my doctors appointment yesterday which I knew would take a little longer than usual.
She is my friend/former coworkers mom. She babysits her grandkids on a regular basis and has brought up 4 kids. I thought it sounded great and hired her.

My appointment took a little longer than I expected, 4 hrs.
I came to her home (where the kids were staying) and find the sitter on her laptop  and my kids upstairs unattended.
I go upstairs and find my kids playing, a first aid kit is open and all its contents on the ground. Near it, I see a medicine pill organizer OPENED and about 3-4 pieces of pills layed out on the ground. It was apparent that they had been left unattended for some time. I was just furious and in a panic, i didn't even know what to say. I asked her how long were they by themselves upstairs unattended and she tells me about 5-10 minutes, which i doubt because it looked like a tornado happened.

I ended up paying her for her time and left. the more i heard from her i just wanted to punch her in the face.
On the way home my son is telling me "I'm so hungry I need to eat NOW" and it is apparent he had not eaten anything.

What would you do? I'm still so mad at her, lost sleep over this. I'm 39.4 weeks pregnant, i just cried all day yesterday.
I may stick to only childcare centers or daycares from now on. I always hear she does a great job with her grandkids, but apparently it didn't mean she would value the life of my kids.

I just wouldn't have her look after my kids again.

She probably does the same stuff with her grandkids too :-(

i wouldnt use her again, but I also wouldn't mention it to your friend, it will likely start problems

I disagree. If she routinely watches her friends kids. Id want to know because all the kids were under her care. If the friend doesnt appreciate her advocating a dangerous situation for her kids then its not a real friendship. Theres butting in and then there is a potential danger to a child butt in.
