My daughter just turned 2 in July but she's been in the "terrible twos" stage since she was about 19m.
She constantly does things after I tell her not to, then laughs when I try to discipline her. I don't like to spank so I only do that if she does something that puts her in danger after I've already told her not to do it and I try to stay calm but its really hard when she continuously doesn't listen.
I just don't get what I'm doing wrong and it makes me feel like I'm failing as a parent because as much as I try to stay calm, it seems like I'm constantly yelling
How do you discipline your 2yr old? I need some advice please I'm feeling so stressed out.
I started out with putting him in the corner and counted to 20, it worked sometimes and he learned to count to 20 real quick lol. I also noticed he'd misbehave more after we'd been stick home awhile. A day out would help my little guy
Well I have no kids but I used to babysit a 3 year-old and when she wouldn't listen I'd put her in time out and she hated it so it helped her to behave
Its a struggle, at this age nothing really works. You just have to stay consistent with what your doing and make sure she knows what she did was wrong. My son is almost 3 and we're still workin on it lol. It'll get better. Just try to keep your patience and do things that will help you relax or step back for a moment(to gather your head). At this age its hard for them to understand certain things.
Around that age I found the methods on ahaparenting.com and the fb page Positive Parenting: Toddlers and beyond. They were both extremely helpful.
We can give you a bunch of tips and tricks but honestly it really is just a phase that all kids go through, nothing to do with you!
I tried everything but eventually she just grew out of it.
This. And the older they get the more mouthy they are. I can't believe some of the shit that comes out of my 5 year old's mouth
Thanks everyone, I hope its just a phase.
I will try time outs again but the last time I tried that she just kept getting back up no matter how many times I put her back so it was pointless but maybe now that she is alittle older it will work better.
