Today at my sons 9 month appointment I found out he has exzema very badly !! I noticed his legs were getting broke out and dry feeling, and it spreaded to his bottom. So I showed the doctor today and he said it is def exzema ! Anyways, it it bothering him SO bad, he is so fussy because it makes him itch. So does anyone know of anything I can use to help soothe the area and keep him from scratching? The doctor prescribed him some cream which I am getting tomorrow morning. Thanks for any responses !

I got this stuff for DD from Target. She didn't have eczema, but she got baby acne really bad on her face and this stuff helped clear it up and kept her skin moist (her skin was very, very dry once it started clearing up):

:!: Coconut oil is amazing for eczema! I've had it my whole life.

Olive oil. I have it too. btw eczema is often a result of a lactose ( or other food, but lactose is most common) intolerance. My son and I both have it. Oh, and only use the steroid cream (cortisone) if you really have to, that stuff is evil. Having every crease in your skin crack is worse though.

My dd has eczema pretty bad on her face. We have to be very careful of anything we put on her skin. Laundry soaps have to be very mild or scent free.

We use these on her and her skin has been so much better.

well first I would switch his soaps and laundry detergent to everything free from dyes and perfumes. then after that I would use the cream and go from there.

aveeno and aquaphore healing ointment are what me and my DD use. plus Tide free and clear. no softeners, I have found that to make it worse, even the free and clear ones. I agree with PP on cortisone cream, we only use it on very bad days and only once that day. I have to put lotion on us constantly and just try to keep our skin moisturized. DD has exzema, I have a very bad case of dermatitis(sp?) so we both use this stuff. o, and hypoallergenic soaps as well for me at least. hope that helps

That soap and lotion I posted up there is all natural, dye free and perfume free. And we use All free and clear for DD's laundry too (she doesn't have eczema, but sensitive skin and it was very dry in the beginning). It definitely helps!

The purex naturals is what we use and it is the only scented thing that audrianna doesn't break out from! She can only use dove sensitive skin soap too. :(

Thank you everyone ! I will give some of these suggestions a try. I have heard coconut oil helps with a lot of stuff !
And we use unscented laundry detergent, but I am going to switch his soap tomorrow. My niece has exzema too, but not bad at all. Just a few little spots on the back of her leg. She uses basis soap and it's for sensitive skin. So I am switching him to that !
