Changing diapers! Jake Wyler 1 child; 2 angel babies; New Jersey 1085 posts

Hello :)

I just started my job at a day care today, I am working with the infants. The new school year starts next week so new babies will be coming in and the ages we take are 6 weeks to 12 months.
Now, I have changed many girl diapers ( I have 2 nieces), but now I have boys to change and I feel clueless  The girls I work with told me to put a baby wipe on the p***s immediately when I remove the dirty diaper because the cold makes them not pee? Do you do this? And I have been on Google searching proper ways and a lot of the sites say to push the p***s down when you put the new diaper on so that when they do pee it does not come out of the top.

Tell me how you change your boys. What is your process? I seriously like changing girls better, I feel like I am going to hurt the boys.

I guess I just wipe and don't think anything of it. I definitely point the p***s down, as you said, not only so pee doesn't come out of the top, I just think that's probably the most comfortable option.

Still wipe front to back for boys?

With boys it really doesn't matter :) and don't
worry, you won't hurt them.

See, changing girls bothers me, because I have changed so few and never know if I have wiped off all the poo. Lol

Open diaper, get a good breeze, close diaper. Wait a few seconds. If they don't pee by then, it is less likely they will. It is the sudden cold that makes them pee, a wipe would just deflect it.

Definitely point the p***s down, it reduces leakage.

Obviously be gentle, it is a baby, but considering my son has always been able to grab a handful and tug, they aren't THAT sensitive down there.

Just beware...if the baby is erect, it often means pee is coming.

Uncircumcised boys...do not pull the foreskin back. Circumcised boys, be gentle, but there may be some foreskin manipulation necessary to get all the poo cleaned out.

I'm hoping it is something that I will pick up fast. Do I just take a wipe gently around the p***s? I am afraid that if I am too gentle I am not getting it clean enough. I am the biggest worry wart.

A problem spot is the testicles, because it is not just smooth skin. Just keep wiping gently until it is clean. You will get the hang of it.

And yeah, just wipe the p***s and around it.
