I was at walmart picking up baby food with DD who is 1 year and 2 weeks. The woman checking us out made a comment of "shes still eating purees?!" Now, DD had a weight gaining issue when she was about 6-7 months, she now eats about 25+ oz of purees a day. I mix them all up, veggie, fruit and meat ones with the oatmeal with high iron and fiber to make it thick. I also use stage three. But aside from that she eats finger foods too, pretty much anything im eating, she loves the potato munchies things, the pick ups for toddlers and more. Shes not just eating purees. I kind of explained this to her but I get irritated and dont feel the need to explain myself to someone who is being a snot. The thing is, as much as she eats on her own, I notice she doesnt really eat a lot if shes feeding her self. So I let her eat whatever it is she wants then I start with the purees. I know shes still hungry but if i put whatever she wanted in front of her she would just eat a few pieces then be done. Im also giving her to spoon to to let her practice but I dont see the issue here. If Im not BLW then when am i supposed to stop purees?
Why would you even explain your parenting to a cashier? It's not their child they aren't your friend/family they have no business knowing a thing, I know 2 year olds who still eat purees sometimes. You said that's not all she eats so don't worry
I wouldn't have explained myself. It's none of her business
My son was on purees until 16 months. He ate regular food but he never ate enough to get full until then so he had purees after he ate "dinner" to get him full. Some people have no filter where they really should.
Hey I like me some of dem fruit purees! They're so yummy! I wish they weren't as expensive though or id buy them all the time... for myself, since my son kinda hates them.
Its not all she eats but it is the majority. I just want to make sure she's healthy and growing, I never second guessed anything until Miss Pediatric/ Walmart Cashier started giving me shit.
It's a Walmart cashier. Why would even pay attention to what she was saying?

Don't worry about it. She prolly doens't even have kids.
Exactly! I mean... DD is a big girl now... not chunky just tall and stocky. So it would be near impossible to let her fill her self. She would never leave the high chair! lol
I would have just told her that how I raise my kid is none of her business and to stick her nose somewhere else.

I would have just answered "yep" and carried on with my checking out. I wouldn't have even thought it was a judgmental question personally.
Who the smurf cares! food is food. My son eats stage 4 purees at times. He is 13.5 months.
I never did purees, so I don't know when you are "supposed" to stop but I would just do what you feel comfortable with. Don't let the random cashier bother you. I had one say to my LO "Tell your mommy that she needs to buy you warmer clothes, you're going to freeze!" Because I bought a long sleeve shirt and leggings for her in December.
We stopped purees when DS stopped expressing interest in them, around 14 months. He preferred being able to feed himself at that point. I'm sure we would have done it longer if he still liked them!
