My son has been on rice cereal for a little over 2 weeks. The dr gave the ok to start fruits/veggies. But should I mix it with the rice or just give it to him straight?
Nah just on their own. I'd start with mashed banana. Then maybe add some mashed avocado. :)
I want to eventually make my own baby food, but for know I bought some bananas, apples, carrots and green beans..

Once my LO was use to eating the the stage 2 I added about a teaspoon of cereal just to make it a little thicker. Now he is 8 months he will not eat it at all. He would rather eat what we eat or the stage 3.
We just started with raw fruits and veggies - whole pieces (small), not mushed - and just put them in front of DS so he could eat at his own pace.
First veggies were broccoli (sometimes we would steam it for a few minutes) and carrots (always raw - great for teething). Fruit fruits were apples (cut them into slices that he'd hold and snack on), bananas (we'd share the whole banana, he'd just take bites after me), and strawberries (same - sharing the berry).
He really hated if we tried cutting the bananas or strawberries into baby-sized bites. He'd only take it if we gave him the whole banana or strawberry to chomp on. I think he just wanted to do what we were doing, hah.
Eeep, didn't see how old your LO was.
I'm still a big fan of BLW (baby led weaning), but steaming the veggies to soften them up would probably be best since he's still so young.
