My SO's sister is kinda in a dilemma and she doesn't know which way to turn. We are very close, so I'm just seeking for advice to give her during her ruff time.
Okay, so she has been recieving medicade for several years (she has 3 kids. two of which is autistic) so she needed some extra medical help. Well for the last year her husband has been without a job. He was "supposudly" looking for work. And wasn't getting an unemployment check. Well today, when she took her oldest to the doctor they said her medicade wasn't going thru. So she went to the medicade office to see what was going on. She goes, and they confront her right away, asking why did she lie for a year about her husband drawing an unemployment check. She said he wasn't, that she wasn't lying. They told her that he was drawing a $257 check each week, for a year now.
She got home and confronted her husband about it and he told her the truth and that he had been spending every dime in pills.
Now, since all this has occured, what can she do to get her medicade back? She cannot afford the medical expenses due to both of the autistic kids being in different organizations during the week to help their delays. I know they can't just believe her story, and cut it back on. So what she go about doing? I think pressing charges against her husband wanting him out of her house, and the well being of their kids, is her best bet...but (me just talking, i dont know if she would or wouldnt) but she is a very good hearted person & I dont know if she would do that...for her kids sake, where their dad wouldnt go to jail.
I don't think there is much she can do. He could tell them that she knew nothing about it, but with so many people committing fraud when it comes to medicaid and food stamps, I doubt they would believe it.
She could divorce for financial reasons and stay with him if she so chooses?? Yikes that's all kinds of sad and fucked up:( Hope it gets resolved soon.
leave him. Unemployment is government funded. All they have to do is run the SS# and it will show up the amount each person drawls.
All I know that she can do for her kids to get medical back would be to separate from her husband and hope they would let her have them.
Quoting Ladee+Grant+Lilly:" Aside from him turning himself in for it...I'm not sure there's much she can do. And she will be lucky ... [snip!] ... pays for their services. To me, as a parent of a SN child myself...that would be unforgiveable. Maybe I'm too harsh though. "
I have a SN child as well. This shit would not fly with me. He would be getting the hell out and we would be getting a divorce. I love my DH dearly, but my DS's well being is more important. Him withholding almost $300 a week from his family is unforgivable as well.

They still want to know who is living in the house hold. If they got divorced they would have to live separate or she would be lieing to get the cards.
