What were your steps? How did you manage exercising with LOs? How did you steer away from cravings?? I told myself today, no sugar. So my coffee is gross, my oatmeal was gross. Lol this is gonna be hard, I keep thinking about the peanut utter ice cream in the fridge! But I'm tired of feeling gross. I want to look I the mirror and feel healthy and fit and sexy instead of the opposite.
So what are tips you have? Next time I go grocery shopping I'm getting a ton of fresh fruit and veggies to chop and prepare forecast snacking. Lean proteins and some rice and potatoes and stuff. I'd like to cut out gluten too. See if I can help my gut and bloating.
Any other tips would be great!
Go to a place that grows herbs and buy sone stevia. It's soooo sweet and healthy. You can use that to sweeten stuff. Or do it the easy way and get truvia lol :wink:
You have to do it slow and replace bad habits with good ones. If you try to change everything overnight you'll get burnt out. For exercise we just take family walks.

This. Allll of this. Cutting so much out at once is a recipe for failure for a lot of people. Baby steps!
Though I still use sugar, truvia isn't too bad as an alternative.
I cut the things out that I know are a problem, like "liquid calories". I never realized how many calories I absorbed by the drinks I had all day. I don't drink sodas, but I did drink juices and bolthouse drinks a lot. I also believe even the "bad" things are okay in moderation.
I also find that denying myself ice cream once or twice a month makes me unhappy. It makes me break my own rules completely and I don't stick to any healthy change after that. But there are ALWAYS healthier ways to make anything. As far as ice cream goes, I just freeze fruit, like bananas and blend them, it makes "ice cream"!
We have a bowflex and an elliptical in my home. I set up a table full of crayons and such in the room and loud speakers for music. When I work out for that hour DD gets to play in there. (We don't let her have crayons any other time, she draws on walls lol)
I also just don't buy bad shit. My husband is always on board with me too. I've never been overweight, with the exception of both times postpartum lol. I try hard not to be.
I do my exercise after my children are in bed. Some days my daughter wants to do it with me so we do pushups, sit ups, planks, and squats together. Lol.
I removed gluten from my diet... I lasted a month. But I have cut back a lot compared to the amount that I used to eat.
I have weightloss pictures on my profile.
Rather than cutting out everything that I love, I'm doing portion control, and making sure I'm not eating too many calories.
I still eat mostly everything that I always did, except I cut out my sodas and replaced it with water and tea. I even have a cupcake here and there as a treat so I don't get discouraged and throw in the towel.
When I'm having a major sweet tooth I'll eat fruit. And I'm from the south where everything is battered and fried, so I'm also grilling and baking my foods more.
As for exercising, I walk with the kids in the evening. Put the baby in the stroller and dd rides her bike. Sometimes if she's not paying attention to what I'm doing her dad will stay home with both of them so I can walk alone lol.
I'm staring p90x soon when I can get a supply of breastmilk up so dh can feed the baby when he's hungry. Otherwise I'd stop 15 minutes in to feed for 30 minutes and it would be pointless lol.
Doing all of this I've lost 30lbs and gone from a size 11 pants to a 5/6.
We use organic cane sugar..or honey to sweeten.
We make all our own breads.
we don't buy any junk/processed foods..we make it all. make all our own treats (cookies, muffins, granola bars etc)
we only drink distilled or coconut water. I drink green tea. we make smoothies or drink hemp/almond milk.
We snack on a lot of fruit, veggies with hummus, guacamole, homemade dill dip etc. raw nuts, hard boiled eggs, greek yogurt with homemade granola etc.

We started eating a Paleo diet in April, and DH and I each lost 20-25 lbs. It was a tougher transition for me than it was for DH. I have a much more difficult time the week before my period, I crave sugar cookies and tacos... Other than that, I don't really have any issues. I've seen such huge changes in my body that it's not difficult to stick to it. I will say it makes it MUCH easier to transition to a healthy lifestyle if your SO is on board!!! I couldn't imagine if DH wasn't as strong as he is. It sucks when my family "picks on us" the way they do for passing on bread, cookies, pastas, etc... It's really frustrating. Especially when they are all overweight and incredibly unhealthy and we are the only ones in shape and fit lol
I agree with the good sleep. I know its hard with an Infant but it really helps. Eat or drink something right when you wake up. It helps jumpstarting yor metabolism for the day. Even if you go back to sleep tey to get something early. I usually just drink water right when I wake up and it helps. I also use organic cane sugar when I use "real"sugar. You also have to wean yourself down. I used to use a lot of cream and sugar in my coffee and I just started weaning myself down. I still need about 1tbsp cream and 1tsp sugar but that was a huge improvement :shock: and I do allow myself junk once in awhile. If you cut yourself right off you're more prone to cave. I found if I don't make it off limits and Indulge when I crave it I get my fix and don't want any more. And if you have a "bad" day don't get discouraged. I usually have a bad day when I plateau and I usually lose weight. I think it helps keep your body guessing and makes it pick up the pace. Oh and I use mfp religiously!!!
Yes! For me, everyday is about making positive changes. I've been vegan, vegetarian, Paleo, you name is and come to conclude that what is best for me is acquiring knowledge and listening to my body. Everyone is different, different allergies etc Even though I may not be in the "gluten free" category, and after years of stomach problems I thought I was, in general, it is hard for the body to digest gluten (I learned this from a client) and so i try to avoid it as much as possible. Same goes for diary. Greek yogurt I go for cuz of the nutritional benefits and its not as harsh, all this I learned from experience and acquiring knowledge. I'm talking all about food because the trainers I've worked with say "nutrition is 70% of your physical fitness" I've been doing more circuit and functional training lately because although many thing hitting the treadmill or Zumba is the best way to get in a shape, I'm finding that yoga- meditation- not putting too much stress on the body long term and short term quick intense workouts is what has helped me, and I see the changes almost overnight! It's easier said than done but between changing my diet, workouts, learnig and experimenting, record to evaluate best my results, these have been my biggest changes lately. And I hope to maintain them!
I completely stopped drinking pop. Only water or seltzer. I eat healthy foods. I also fast-not usually by choice but because my schedule is crazy and I guess I'm bad at time management. Last meal is 6-7pm. Then no food until noon the following day. I walk during my hour lunch break

Not eating until noon is not healthy
