My ex and I have a court order for visitations and he takes our 15 month old son every other weekend. This past weekend he took him to the beach and my baby is very sunburned from his face. His cheeks and nose were bright red and his eyes were also it seemed like he was out in the sun for alot of hours. It's frustrating because my ex is very irresponsible and he always thinks he can do whatever he wants with our son regardless of how it affects him (have him sleep til 2 am, him and his whole family havong horrible eating habits filled with fast food, soda, candy, chips ect.)
My main concern is can this be a form of child negligence? Should I report him to CPS so I can have some proof of written documentation for court to show the judge how selfishly irresponsible he is?
I would never push his father out of his life but I really want him to man up, be mature and considerate of our son and possibly take a parenting course. I've been dealing with this nonsense since our son was a month old and it just worries me because the only one affected in the end is our baby.
I would definitely take him to the Dr & get it recorded.
It is horrible that he was suburned, but I believe it depends on how severe it is. I wouldnt call CPS on it though, but I would definitely take pictures to have a record of it.
The other things, like keeping him up and eating fast food, is none of your concern. You can talk about it to him, but he can do what he likes on his time.
..which makes me think you might just be throwing this out of proportion because you don't want him to have custody....
I would say it depends on the severity of the burn... My daughter has had sunburn before and I always make sure she has on sunblock.. Even when it's cloudy. But it has never been terrible or anything just slightly red...

I mean come the eff on, who of us even if we've slathered on sunblock hasn't gotten a burn at least once? Wtf are you supposed to do? Lock the kid inside?
Keep him comfortable, aloe with lidocane, luke warm baths and showers and keep him hydrated.
Unless you're seeing oozing blisters, although uncomfortable, you're kid's fine.
do you have control issues what if your son accidentally got sunburn while with you should they call CPS on you for what could have been an accident
Just an FYI peaches...
If it was a severe burn take him to the doctor, not only to have it recorded but also because he should get medical attention. If its not that bad that he doesn't need a dr then I don't think he was neglectful. Maybe irresponsible but we all make mistakes
How old is your son?
Not unless its all out blistering....
No :? It's not blistered? Bleeding? Seriously. Would you want someone to call CPS on you if your kid falls off his bike and breaks his arm?

Wow, really though? Smh. I am very fair skinned and I can slather up in sunscreen and still get burnt. Doesn't always mean he was negligent, I think you are just looking for something to cause him trouble. spiteful much?
Do you know he intentionally left him outside without any sunscreen to purposely let him get burned? Even when I cover myself I can still get a little sun when I don't want to. Doesn't mean he was negligent, shit just happens. If he's got third degree burns, by all means take him to the doctor but if its just a little red I would chill about it.
