He tells you not to do research because you might find out that what he's doing is dangerous
Quoting tinana+2:" da fuq did I just read? "
! lol could anyone really be that stupid. OP I hope your baby is ready to be born at 39 weeks and is healthy, since you are unwilling to follow good advice from your fellow mothers.
Quoting ☮HippyMama☮:" Well if that's not a red flag I don't know what is... your doctor wants you to not do any research of your own and just blindly follow what he says. Hmm. Food for thought."
With my first I was 42 weeks, 6 days. My OB let my BABY be the one who decided when she was ready to come out.
Your doctor sounds like a moron.
your doctor tells you NOT to do research on your own and you think hes great for that??
Im am so sorry to be such a b***h, but my lord OP you are AN IDIOT!!!
Who would NOT research for themselves, their children and their loved ones???
That makes absolutely no sense to me. The fact that between him inducing every mom at at least 40 weeks AND him recommending not to research just shows what a pompous money hungry d**k this doctor is.
And to answer your question, the difference between inducing at 40 weeks and inducing at 39 is your due date is and ESTIMATE (this was answered but clearly you did not read it) meaning at 40 weeks you may only be 38 weeks or even less.
And the problem with forcing the baby out at 40 weeks is the added drug exposure and the risk of c-section, which IS a major surgery.
You may be happy with your 'pre scheduled' birth and thats fine, but dont try and defend such a stupid reason to evict the baby YOU signed on to carry - till birth.
I am a mother of 2 so I've had 2 (induced!) labors and they were perfectly fine! It doesn't make me an idiot. If my doctor was terrible he wouldn't be an ob for 25 years I'm gonna listen to a doctor then moms who think they know it all. I came from a relationship where my ex always said doctors are dumb but they went to school not me so I'm gonna listen to the one who paid thousands of dollars to go to school. The reason he doesn't want me to do research is because he knows research will drive any mother to be crazy. My mucus plug already came out and I kept researching it and he said its normal because it rebuilds itself

lololol okay OP. You follow your money hungry doctor. Hopefully your baby doesn't have to be in the NICU or anything, but if he does (and god forbid he does) I hope you can rest easy with the fact that it's your own damn fault for forcing him out on your conscience.
Have you ever read the package insert for pitocin? Probably not, since your DR told you not to research. The manufacturer of pitocin actually says that it's not made to be used for elective inductions. No joke.
The maker of this drug says specifically not to use it for what your DR is using it for. Hmm.
And to your question about why DRs WOULD use it if it's not safe? Well, because it's:
1- Convinient for them. They can induce around THEIR schedule.
And 2- Inductions OFTEN lead to c-sections and guess what? DRs make a lot more money that way.
I sincerely hope that your child doesn't suffer because of your selfishness and shame on your DR for even inducing women for no reason.
Also... Please just take a look at this site:

Thank you for stating this more calmly and informatively than I did, haha. Ugh.
I have faith that my baby will be fine. He has an angel in heaven watching over him and I believe it.

I'm sorry but I'm sure things happen to people who believe they have an angel watching over them. That doesn't excuse your irresponsible decisions.
Everyone always gives me lectures when I say I'm gonna be induced. It was the same thing with my second. I'm use to it. I know my baby will be find thanks for the information and advice but i know what I'm doing.

Actually, you've proven in this thread that you don't.
baby boys are much more prone to NICU stays when induced early as well. I was induced with both my kids, for no reason, which now I know is supid. I was induced with my daughter 2 days early and she was fine. I was induxed with my son 13 days early and he was in the NICU for a week and only weighed 6"8. I will never induce again unless I am 42 weeks and baby doesnt want to come. I would urge you, especially since its a boy to not induce until atleast after ur due date, also the doc cannot force induce u at 40 weeks. You CAN refuse unless there is a medical reason..........

LOL. I tried to be calm even though this thread makes me wanna hit my head into the wall repeatedly. Ugh.
