DS's Right Testicle Swollen/Bluish Bad Things Blacksburg, SC, United States 21226 posts

As the title says, my 22 month old's right testicle is a bit swollen and has a faint bluish tone to it. I noticed it yesterday morning and I googled and it said to wait to see if it goes away on it's own, and if not, go see the doctor.

Well, I am going to call the doctor in just a minute, but I was wondering if any other mamas had this happen with their toddler and if this is a serious thing or not. I don't know if they will be able to get us in today, so should I take him to urgent care or the ER if he can't be seen today?

Thanks.

Hmm do you have a walk-in clinic near you? Basically I have a pedi, but the day to day stuff like infections, etc go to the downstairs clinic where they evaluate the issue. Otherwise if you don't , does your pedi do sick visits?

If you can't get him into the pedi today I'd take him to the urgent care.

The walk in clinic is about 30 miles away from us, so I want to use that as the last resort. LO hasnt been so sick for a sick visit, so I am not sure what their rules on that are. His pedi is just a few blocks away though so I am hoping they can squeeze him in because it is kind of freaking me out (with some sites saying it can be fatal...but every "sickness" I look up tends to say that. :?) I just am curious on what "it" could be.

I am stepping out to call them now, so hopefully I can just run him down there.

I'm pretty sure that Dr. Google would say a stubbed toe is fatal if you googled it. :D I hate the internet sometimes. Good luck and I hope they get everything straightened out. :)

I know!

Well, I called the pedi and they have nothing opened today and the lady said if it is blueish, I need to take him to the ER before monday. So I guess I am going to the ER...which sucks.

Ill update as soon as I know what the hell this is. Thanks, ladies!

Update:

JUST got home from the ER.

LO had to be straped down on a board to do an u/s, blood taken, and a catheter put in. He had built up fluid from somehow hitting his balls on something. :/ He also has a UTI.

However, if anyone else has this problem, do not wait. They said if it was a certain thing (forgot the name of it) that if you don't have it surgically fixed in 4 hours, you could lose that ball. Thank god it wasnt that serious. I have no idea how he could of banged it though. I watch him like a hawk!

Thanks for the concern! Just need to give him Motrin and an antibiotic and his balls should be back to normal in about 5 days.

I'm glad he's ok!!! And did they call it a testicular torschion(the one that would have needed surgery)? That's totally not how you spell it...

I have NO idea. All I was focused on was the 4 hours and you need to take the testicle out. lol.

Testicilar torsion? I saw the title and was worried that's what it was. My DH had that when he was younger. He ended up losing his right testicle over it. =/ thank god your LO was okay!
