I am still breastfeeding my almost 1 year old. I have been on the mini pill until I ran out a few weeks ago and was waiting for an appointment to get into the gynecologist (I don't like mine so I am going to a new one). I am looking at different types of birth controls and considering a different type. I am between Depo, implanon, and trying a different pill. I have used the patch and nuvaring so both are out of the question and I have also tried loestro and that one is way out of the question. IUDs scare me so out of those options what do you ladies suggest. I am still going to talk to the doctor and make an educated decision from that. I do not plan on having another baby for a good amount of time so there is no concern there.
Do you have issues with being overweight? Depo is highly discouraged for women who are overweight. It doesn't work as well. And the way my doctor explained it was that depo "shut down" the ovulation center in the brain, when it does this the hunger center is right next to it. A lot of times it overshoots and it make women not realize when they are full.
I have heard horror stories on implanon but idk from experience.
Off topic but did you like mini pill? Did it make you get a period?

I am a little overweight about 20lbs but not that heavy. I have also heard that depo can cause you to gain weight. I did like the mini pill at first it made my periods very unpredictable but then they were lighter and shorter and on time. It depends on the person though. I would be willing to continue the mini pill but DD doesn't nurse as much and I have heard without exclusively breastfeeding it isn't as effective.
Quoting ♥MamaToSilas♥:" i have the Nexplanon(new generation implanon) and absolutely love it."
Did your insurance cover it or did you have to pay out of pocket?
My sister had the depo n was on it for ages. Since she came off it 4 years ago she hasn't been able to fall pregnant again.
My ob said he would only let me get the depo shot three times ever as anymore than that effects your fertility.
