I definitely can't deny my country roots, I have a little...raw country kind of vibe to me, but I don't consider myself a hick or redneck.

I grew up on a farm in a rural setting.
I don't know what other consider a "hick" but I have never labeled myself as one.
I'm not sure what would even classify a person as such.

I just recently learned that my family is quite literally hillbillies. My great-great aunt lived alone in a mountain home in the Appalachians. She would come to the door shotgun in hand, ready to fire LOL.

Eh, I have my country moments... but if you didn't really know me, you'd never guess where I was from.

Basically a stupid person, then.

I think someone can grow up in the sticks and still be sophisticated.
I most definitely would not classify any of my family members as being unsophisticated. Regardless of living in the country and running a farm, they were all college-educated.

My husband is from a seriously small town (not as small as 300) but maybe around 1000. The town doesn't even have a stop light. Lol.

And now we live in Arlington. It's been a huge change for him.

I feel for him. I'm from a town of about 500 people, and now live in a city of like 200,000 - 300,000 (depending on the time of year)? Sometimes it's great (don't have to drive an hour to a decent grocery store!), other times I don't even want to go outside because... people.

:(

I agree. But I also see nothing wrong in some identifying with a label if they want. No worse then someone identifying as a preppy.
