Get a doula! They are there to help you in your birthing experience. My friend is actually becoming one in FL. I wish I had one for my births cause DH rather play video games on his phone and watch Netflix in the corner. And I truly believe this last time around if I had one, I would have been able to stick to not wanting an epidural. You don't need to go through birth alone and a doula is a great person to have, even though you don't have a personal relationship with them, birth is a passion of theirs and they want to help you through it.

Can you go and stay with your family during that period and just give birth to a hospital there?

<blockquote><b>Quoting LHD STOLE MY DH!!:</b>" Wow. Army is really nice. Navy is like if we wanted you to have kids and a wife, we would have issued ... [snip!] ... if we ever "tried" to get him out of work again and they said he could have just come to the hospital after working hours."</blockquote>

Damn that's tough. Dh is allowed to go to most appointments with me
and if the kids get sick enough to go to the hospital they let him drop whatever he is doing to come be with us and call to make sure everything is ok and we don't need anything. I always thought army was the least family friendly or that's what I was alwyas told. Maybe we have just gotten lucky with these two units.

Nope Navy sea duty is the worst, I hear things like this on a daily basis. It's not just our ship. My friend is engaged to a Captain in the Army and even she's blown away to what I tell her.

I could but plane tickets are outrageous. And if he's not gone I want him there. And I flu back home at 31 weeks. So basically time where I can't travel. And had we known all this was gonna happen I probably woulda states in ak to spend time with him.

Quoting LHD STOLE MY DH!!:" If the Army's attitude is anything like the Navy's, they wouldn't even look at a request like that. ... [snip!] ... stay. Both times he talked to them and asked if I went over due could he stay behind and he got a big heck to the no from them."

Must be different. My husband got sent home from training in another state for our second child.

I'd still look around if you could get in touch with a support page for your area for the base or such. At least for here we have a very strong presence of "crunchy" mamas and a lot of them are aspiring doulas who charge very little or nothing at all.
