Not neccesarily- my doctor recommended that I cut to 1200 cal a day and 30 minutes of stationary biking a day to lose weight a while back. Depends on her body, her routine and her overall health really. I wouldn't do LESS than 1200/day- and you have to be very vigilant about getting all your food groups/vitamins/minerals in but it CAN be done safely.

1200 calories is not starving. It's what was recommended by my doctor and weight loss app. I load up on mostly fresh fruits and veggies to get the most out of my calories as well.

Best advice I can give you is to breastfeed! Not only is it great for the baby it burns that post partum weight like you wouldn't believe. I believe you burn about 500-800 calories a day by breastfeeding alone.

When I say less, I mean 1100-1200, not 500ish or something crazy like that. I also take multi vitamins to make sure I'm getting all of the nutrients, and I have some protein after workouts as well.
