i'm sort of in a strange position on FB as much of it has been for BG for years now. anyway, i'm curious about y'all's habits/feelings about the biggest social site on the planet.

i mean, i have real life friends and BG friends on FB... so i don't know how you maintain your friend's list.

but i'm finding myself more and more bored w/ it recently - it starts to feel like most of it's all the same. and the ADS annoy me SO much - esp on my phone.

I rarely post anymore. I only keep it active because pretty much everything is linked to it these days.

for me, i feel like the actual content is super-dull mostly.

the back-n-forths are rarely as compelling as (ahem) BG's, for example... or even the new york time's comments section.

does it seem like too many people post about the least interesting parts of their life possible?

b/c from over here, that's how it feels sometimes. it's all so banal and pointless.

Pretty much. "OMG I wanted to eat this, but I had this instead." "Work sucks" "TGIF!" "Happy Hump Day."

I voted every few hours. I don't get much socialization outside the home, I also rely on FB to talk to my mom since she is over seas and never calls me

I have some pretty fun people on my FB...but they almost don't make up for the boring idiots I just don't give a f**k about. When all someone posts is the same pic of their kid 936492364936 times, talks about NOTHING but parenting, etc, I usually click "hide". f**k, man, if they're so into parenting, go freaking parent and let the rest of us watch cat videos 'n shit without being bombarded every 2 minutes by a link on *insert hot button issue*.

I can't read comments on any news fb page ever, I just end up pissed.

I know WAY more about the politics of my loved ones than I ever wanted to know.

I'm not OVER FB, I'm on a lot. I enjoy it, but man some people need a f**king hobby.

what gets me are the pity party statuses about bad husbands/friends/lives.

if it's positive, i'm like, "okay, you're a little ray of sunshine farts, that's nice."

here's one that i've been irritated by today - just thinking about, "am i the only person on the planet w/ a moral conscious?"

REALLY?! that's your status update? from a guy i knew in high school... it's enough to make me unsubscribe. just shut your noodle-hole if that's all you've got to say. i don't need to read your pointless pitying self-righteousness for no known reason.
also, on a separate note: thank you for your avi.

Facebook keeps me in touch with people I would not otherwise maintain contact with. Old friends from childhood, college etc. I value it for that alone. It's also where I go for my TAC support group which is important to me but that could have been anywhere.

OH MAH GAWD... there are some horrible horrible HORRIBLE humans commenting. i avoid it altogether intentionally.

i saw some of the nastiest racist shit i've ever seen in my life - towards michelle obama of all women, on a political news site.

it was VILE.

i was only there b/c somehow my friend was commenting - and i was curious how SHE felt. now i know why, it was enragingly backwoods-f**k-yer-sister sort of racism.

Or the people who post about important stuff then start spewing bullshit like they actually know what they are talking about? Yeah, no thanks.

You are quite welcome :D
