what were your symptoms?

and how is thyroid disease detected?

i get really hot sometimes all over. but other times I'm so cold i shiver.
and I've battled obesity my entire life.

my mom had an overactive thyroid but when she went in for radiation they destroyed too much of her thyroid and now its under active.

anyone have personal experience with thyroid disease? please share! and were the tests extensive? quick? how did they test?

I had my thyroid tested by blood draw at my last female appt. It came back normal, but that's all they did on the initial test.

All they will do is see what your levels of TSH are and possibly T3 and T4. If they are abnormal they will do further studies.

I had mine tested last month. It was a blood draw in the Drs office. Mine was fine though.

i have an under active thyroid. my main symptoms are extreme fatigue and I am always cold. they can figure out if you have thyroid disease by running a thyroid panel (blood tests.)
if it turns out you do have a thyroid problem, they will give you medication, but it will take awhile to find the right medication and dosage that works for you.

Quoting Momma to L ♥:" i have an under active thyroid. my main symptoms are extreme fatigue and I am always cold. they can figure ... [snip!] ... problem, they will give you medication, but it will take awhile to find the right medication and dosage that works for you."

This! And if my medication dosage isn't correct, I get heart palpitations and my hair falls out.
