Let me start by saying that I'm all for people choosing to formula feed for any reason even if they just don't want to breast feed but in the situation below I feel it is really selfish and irresponsible to choose not to breast feed but maybe I'm wrong...
One of my friends called me today, she had a baby 6 days ago. Through the whole conversation I could hear her newborn crying hysterically. I finally asked after ten minutes of us talking what was wrong with her baby and she says, no word of a lie, "Oh that's why I called, she has been crying like that for hours because I ran out of formula and she hasn't ate in a long time. Can I give her regular cows milk. I have no money to buy more formula until monday." I told her she can't give her cows milk but since she said earlier in the conversation that her b**bs kept leaking everywhere I told her she should breast feed her instead of letting her starve. She completely refused to even try. I offered to transfer money into her account but I can't until SO is ofg work at 7:30 and its 1 right now. She said I'm the last person she had that she could call and She also lives in a small town with no food bank or anywhere that can help with stuff like that. Am I wrong for feeling like she is selfish for choosing not to breast feed? I'm not sure how I could be but I also breast feed so I might be biased. Also would it be wrong for me to call cps about it? I already told my mom who is a foster mom and she already called before anyone jumps on me saying I should have already called.
Did she give birth somewhere close? Could she call there and ask if they had formula samples she could have? Or her pediatrician's office?
what. the. f**k.
yeah, that's NEGLECT. you should call CPS.
Wow.. I couldn't imagine not letting a 6 day old eat :(
IMO that Mom needs to be smacked in the f**king head. Her newborn Child is literally crying from hunger while she complains her b**bs are leaking. I don't care if you're for or against breast feeding, pop a b**b in that baby's mouth and give her some damn food. She can complain all she wants about it as long as her Child is fed. but if her Child's starving, there's no choice there.
Nope, that's pretty selfish.... and just weird. I'd call CPS.
I think she should at least pump.
Then she needs to get on EBT or WIC....and I, personally, would call CPS on her.
Good God!! I find her to be extremely selfish! Her child is Hungary! And yes! CPS!

That poor baby. What the f**k is wrong with her! Can he get WIC or something?? Tht baby needs to eat and can't have cow milk. I feel so bad for that baby.

Is there a reason she doesnt want to breastfeed? Seems completely stupid not to even give it a try. Especially when they are that tight on money. Its better for baby and FREE!
I think she is very selfish her child needs to eat if she cant buy formula she needs to breast feed. I would have called CPS right away her child doesn't deserve to go without eating because she wants to be selfish
If your kid is screaming for food, you have breastmilk, but refuse to feed your child...yea, something is wrong with you. I don't care if people want to breastfeed or not, that isn't even the issue here. She sounds like an absolute danger to that child.

No that was lovely auto correct. You get the point...

The hospital and closest doctors office is two hours away and she doesn't have a vehicle
