im talking on this debate on fb and this girl said that.her baby daddy raped her, and has since been nothing but a shitty father to her.son since he was born, and wants to know if she should take him to court for full custody... and a lot of people are saying he has as much rights as any other father. why she continued to talk to him i have no idea, idk if hes on the bc or not. but what do you think? if a rapist knows his victim gets pregnant does he have.a right to be in the childs life?

As fucked up as it is, he legally has the same rights as any other father.

Unless she pressed charges and they stripped his rights, yes he does have as many rights as any other dad!

Edit: should he? No I don't think he should.

!!!!!!

I would lie and say I didn't know who the dad was and raise the kid myself. I couldn't handle seeing him and having him in my life for 18 yrs.

I say no. IMO Rape shows a man to be unfit to parent that child. However, honestly, if the accusation of rape isn't brought up until a while after the child is born, it's a hard thing to prove, you know? I could see women using that excuse to get sole custody. I'm hesitant to say it, but I feel like they should have to press charges or something to be able to use a rape allegation as a reason to deny custody or visitation to a man. . . .

Legally, they have rights unless the courts decide otherwise. Should a rapist have rights? No way.

I agree ish with what your saying but then I think about that poor BG member who's having her brothers baby. Her family is treating her like she's the liar so she has been too intimidated to go to the police! I feel so bad for her but I don't think her brother should be able to be involved!!!

Yes a rapist has 100% full rights as any other father does. Unless of course the rights were stripped but in a lot of cases that is hard to do in cases like this. Her going after full custody is a good thing to do whether is was a rape or not. If they aren't together there needs to be something set. It's pretty messed up that he raped her and then she still continued to talk to him baby involved or not. I'm sorry I wouldn't talk to my rapest for anything!! I don't care who they are!

i guess this is why all those women were bashing her because she kept changing her story and stuff. but idk i was still surprised because if it is.true then she.should try to get full custody
