I would suggest just running. Start off with as much as you can run (I started with 1.5 because thats what the military requires lol) and then just go up when youre good with that.
The reason I say that is because Ive tried the C25k and after using that....It didnt really help with my 1.5....So Idk how well it even works.
I used the free c25k app by cool runnings on my droid last year. I downloaded the same app on my iPhone again this year but haven't started again yet.
I only ran one race last year (which was a little more than a 5k) and then I stopped because of a comment that was made to me. I was/am more than a few pounds overweight and I feel that if I can do it, pretty much anyone can :)
